GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 9, 2004) - The East Tennessee State Lady Bucs volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak, defeating UNC Greensboro 3-2 (30-27, 30-23, 18-30, 23-30, 15-11) Saturday afternoon from Fleming Gymnasium in Greensboro, N.C.

ETSU (3-13, 2-4 SoCon) dominated play in the first two games and led by as many as six, 26-20, in the first game before holding on for the 30-27 win. In game two, it was more of the same as the Buccaneers used a 24-10 run to extend their lead to 25-15. They held off a late UNCG (2-18, 0-5 SoCon) flurry to go up 2-0 with a 30-23 victory.

UNCG rallied to square the match 2-2 by cruising to 30-18 and 30-23 wins in games three and four. In the fifth game, UNCG held a slim 8-6 lead, but ETSU scored nine of the last 12 points to pick up its second SoCon win of the season.

ETSU was led by the trio of Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Co.), Jennifer Sartor (Toronto, Ontario) and Sara Scandiffio (Purcellville, Va.). Kiselich put away 15 kills while Sartor and Scandiffio each had 14 on the afternoon. Sophomore Natalie Pittenger (Gaston, Ind.) had 18 digs to lead the Lady Bucs.

The Spartans were paced by middle hitter Cindy VanDervoort, who posted 15 kills for the second-straight outing. Lauren Richards added 14 kills and a team-leading seven blocks while Hilary Overby added 12 kills. Adrian Hicks dished out 31 assists and had 13 digs for UNCG.

Lady Buc volleyball returns to action on Oct. 16, as ETSU hosts The Citadel at 2 p.m. from Brooks Gym.
