Volleyball inks first recruit for 2005 season

Wednesday, February 02, 2005

(Feb. 1, 2005) - East Tennessee State Lady Bucs volleyball coach Lindsey Devine has announced the signing of Betsy Jones (Tallahassee, Fla./Wakulla) to a national letter of intent to compete for the ETSU volleyball team in 2005, it was announced today.  The Lady Bucs will compete in their first season of competition in the Atlantic Sun Conference during the 2005 year under the direction of third-year coach Devine.

Jones, a four year letterwinner at Wakulla High at the outside hitter position, will pose a strong arm in the ETSU attack for 2005.  The district player of the year in 2003, Jones also tallied 333 kills, 143 digs and 40 aces during her junior campaign.  While competing for the Lady Bucs volleyball squad, Jones plans on majoring in education.

"Betsy is a strong athlete who works extremely hard on the court.  Not only does she bring with her the ball control needed to run our offense, Betsy has the ability to terminate rallies on the outside which will be a great advantage for our team this fall," Devine said.
