Men's tennis concludes play at ETSU Fall Collegiate Classic

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 2, 2004) - The East Tennessee State men's tennis team wrapped up play in the ETSU Fall Collegiate Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Bell tennis courts.
Senior Federico Ochoa (Manizales, Columbia) defeated Pedro Galavis of Tusculum, 6-3 ret. to advance to the finals in the Sinlges A bracket where he fell to Lisandro Picardo 6-3, 6-1, who competed unattached in the tournament. ETSU's Ochoa also won the doubles bracket with his unattached partner Picardo with a 8-6 win over VI's Sandlant and Barbosa.
Newcomer Adam Baldwin (Athens, Tenn.) also represented the Buccaneer men out on the courts, playing in the Singles B bracket. He defeated Adam Cornett of VI 3-6, 6-2 (4) in the second round of competition but then fell to Robby Pierce of VI 6-3, 6-3.
Tennis action continues this weekend as Ochoa and Baldwin's teammates Felix Insaurralde (Ascunción, Paraguay) and Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) continue to compete at the ICY/HOT ITA All-American tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn.
