Men's tennis drops match to No. 22 Tennessee, 6-1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2005) - The East Tennessee State University men's tennis team fell to interstate rival No. 22 Tennessee 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center. The Bucs drop to 2-3 with the loss, while UT improves to 4-1 on the season.

            Tennessee opened the match by taking the doubles point. The UT's Bobby Cameron and Morgan Wilson defeated ETSU's Federico Ochoa (Manizales, Columbia) and Daniel Escobedo (Woodland Hills, Calif.) 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. UT followed with another win at No. 1 doubles by No. 16 Ockie Oosthuizen and Ben Rogers over Oscar Posada (Valencia, Venezuela) and Fernando Fiuri (Villa Maria, Argentina) to clinch the point. At No. 3, Moisés Serrano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Sebastian Serrano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) would continue their match and picked up a 9-7 win against Mark Dietrich and Firil Tcherveniachki.

            In singles action, Felix Insaurralde (Asunción, Paraguay) playing at the number three slot would pick up the lone point for ETSU with a win in straight sets over Oothuizen 6-4, 6-4.

            Up next for the Bucs is a trip to Blacksburg, Va. on Feb. 19 where they will meet the Yale Bulldogs for a match at noon.
