Lady Bucs drop close decision to Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 25, 2005) - Despite taking an early inning lead, the Lady Bucs softball squad dropped a non-conference decision versus host Charlotte, 5-4, competing at the Charlotte Holiday Inn First Pitch Classic this weekend from Charlotte, N.C. With the loss, the Lady Bucs drop to 4-4 for the year. Lindsay Lane (Irwin, Tenn.) led the way for ETSU going 2-3 for the afternoon, while freshman Melissa McCall (Kingsport, Tenn.) added two hits in the contest.
Lane also led the way for ETSU scoring two runs in the game, while McCall and Briana Knight (Brier, Wash.) also posted one run in the loss. Lady Bucs right fielder Janine Sprague (Hillsborough, N.C.) also managed one hit for the afternoon, while pitchers Belinda Barrera (Fayetville, N.C.) and Brittany Lehrschall (Lelane, N.C.) allowed 11 hits and five earned runs combined.
