Lady Bucs ready for Southern Conference bout with Spartans

(April 24, 2005) -  The ETSU softball squad will host Southern Conference foe UNC Greensboro (17-35, 4-11 SoCon) this weekend for a three-game series at Metro Kiwanis Park in Johnson City.  The Bucs, 24-26 with a 9-4 SoCon slate thus far in 2005, are currently in third place in SoCon standings behind conference leader Chattanooga while College of Charleston is in second place heading into weekend play.

 

ETSU is also seeing national recognition this week with three Lady Bucs in the national spotlight.  Left fielder Janine Sprague (Hillsborough, N.C.) ranks ninth with 0.14 triples per contest, while ETSU senior Dani Spetar (Knoxville, Tenn.) is 23rd in the nation with .50 stolen bases per contest.  Freshman Brittney Lehrschall (Leland, N.C.) is currently 23rd in the nation with three saves on the year which ranks her tied atop league standings. 

 

The Bucs and Spartans will play Saturday at Metro Kiwanis Park with the first game of the conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. while the Sunday will feature Senior Day festivities with the single game beginning at 1:00 p.m.
