JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (May 9, 2005) - The second annual East Tennessee State University All-Sport Golf Tournament to benefit the Pirate Club Scholarship Fund was held on Monday, May 9 at The Ridges Golf and Country Club. Nearly 100 golfers gathered to enjoy a day of golf, while also displaying their support for Buccaneer athletics.

Fans and supporters, as well as Buccaneers head coaches, assistant coaches, administrative staff and student-athletes gathered together to raise nearly $15,000 for athletic scholarships. According to Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Advancement Jo Anne Paty, the success of the event is growing each year.

"Having our entire department come together with our supporters in an effort to raise dollars for the general athletic scholarship fund is a special opportunity for all of us," Paty said. "Not only those who played in the event, but also those who provided sponsorship, have shown just how much they support the Buccaneers. For that we are grateful."

Several local sponsors, including Greystoke Cadillac, were part of the event. Meanwhile, four-person teams comprised of ETSU fans also participated.

"Everything we do for our student-athletes begins with scholarship dollars, and the work of the Pirate Club is essential to those goals," said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins. "I can't say enough how much we appreciate the support of our fans and sponsors. We can't do any of this without them."
