ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Nov. 5, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University men's golf team began their final tournament of the fall season tied for 10th Friday in the Carpet Capital Intercollegiate being played at The Farm Golf Club this weekend.
The Buccaneers, led by a two-over-par 74 from sophomore Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales), finished the first round with a score of 17-over 305. Georgia currently leads the event, 15-strokes ahead of the Bucs and five strokes in front of second-place New Mexico. On the individual leaderboard, Georgia's David Denham currently leads by one stroke at 3-under for the tournament.
Davies' 74 placed him tied for 18th, while teammates Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland) and Cennydd Mills (Cardiff, Wales) both tied for 27th with scores of 76. Other ETSU results included Stephen Arnold (Langhorne, Pa.), who tied for 56th, and Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland), who finished tied for 64th.
