JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2003) - East Tennessee State senior defensive lineman Brandon Calton (Pennington Gap, Va.) has been selected to participate in the 65th Blue Gray All-Star Classic presented by Movie Gallery. The game will take place on Christmas Day at 3 p.m. from Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium on the Troy State University campus in Troy, Ala. and will be televised live nationally by ESPN2. Calton was a dominant force along the defensive line this season for the Bucs, posting career highs in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks. He finished fourth on the Bucs with 75 tackles and was second on the team with 15.5 tackles for losses and 4.5 sacks. Calton tied for fourth in the Southern Conference in TFL's and tied for sixth in the SoCon in sacks. He also had two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a blocked extra point on the season. Calton had a season-high 10 tackles on Nov. 1 against Georgia Southern and had nine in the season-opener at Eastern Michigan on Aug. 28. Following the season, Calton earned All-Southern Conference honors for a second time. "We are certainly very proud of Brandon for being elected to such a prestigious all-star game to represent East Tennessee State University and our football program," said ETSU head football coach Paul Hamilton. "He is a great credit to our university as well as to the Southern Conference." The Blue Gray game is one of the most respected collegiate all-star games and is the first such game of the post-season. Proceeds of the game go to Youth Development and Sight Conservation charities of the Lions Club. Over $4 million has been contributed to these efforts from the past 64 contests. "It is an honor to be invited to such a classic all-star game," said Calton. "I thank God, my family and all of the coaches that have supported me through the years." Calton is the second Buccaneer to be invited to one of this season's all-star games as senior cornerback Tony Tiller (Lithonia, Ga.) will be participating in the American Airlines Division I-AA All-Star Classic, presented by The Football Network on Dec. 30 and the Las Vegas All-American Classic on Jan. 17.
