Several preseason events scheduled for men's and women's hoops

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2003) - The East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has planned several activities over the next several weeks to help build excitement for the upcoming men's and women's basketball seasons. Below is a list of those events: Sunday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. - FAN APPRECIATION DAY - In conjunction with Homecoming 2003 weekend, the Bucs will host Fan Appreciation Day at Brooks Gym following the ETSU Lady Bucs' volleyball game, which will begin a 1 p.m. Both the men's and women's basketball teams will participate in the event, competing in the Buccaneer Two-Ball Competition and both teams will be playing 15-minute scrimmages. In addition, door prizes will be given away - including autographed basketballs, t-shirts and tickets to the Buccaneer men's home opener against Mars Hill on Nov. 25. Plus, fans will have a chance to interact with the Bucs and get autographs. Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. - BLUE-GOLD GAME - The men's basketball team will play a Blue-Gold Intrasquad game with proceeds benefiting the Children's Hospital at Johnson City Medical Center. Tickets will be $2 at the door. Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7-8:30 p.m. - COME BEAT THE BUCS - Fans will have the opportunity to play basketball video games against ETSU basketball players in the Food Court at the Mall at Johnson City. Come by and beat the Bucs at their own game. Monday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. - EXHIBITION GAME AGAINST GLOBAL SPORTS - The Buccaneers will play their only official, open-to-the-public exhibition game at Brooks Gym on Nov. 10 against Global Sports. Tickets will be $5 with season ticket holders being admitted free. Sunday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. - MAGICAL NIGHT OF GIVING AT THE MALL - Come meet the men's and women's teams at the Mall at Johnson City during the Magical Night of Giving. The teams will sign autographs, visit with fans and hand out posters and schedule cards. Friday, Nov. 21 at 8:30 p.m. - ETSU AT HOUSTON - The Buccaneers open their season on the road against Conference USA member Houston. Listen to the action on the Buccaneer Sports Network beginning with the pregame show live from the Sophisticated Otter at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. - ETSU vs. NWBL team - The Lady Bucs will play their only exhibition game of the preseason against the National Women's Basketball League Select team at Brooks Gym.
