Mayes named to Provident Bank Invitational All-Tournament Team

CINCINNATI, Ohio (Dec. 7, 2003) - After averaging a double-double this weekend in East Tennessee State's two games in the Provident Bank Invitational hosted by Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lady Buc junior forward Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) was named to the All-Tournament Team, announced following Sunday's championship game. Mayes opened the tournament with a huge game Saturday afternoon against High Point, scoring 17 points and pulling down a career-high 16 rebounds. She followed that up with 13 points and nine rebounds in Sunday's consolation game against Central Michigan. For the tournament, Mayes averaged 15.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. She also shot 70 percent (12-17) from the free-throw line. For the season, Mayes leads the Lady Bucs with 14.6 points per game and is second on the squad in rebounding, averaging 10.0 boards per game. She has led the team in scoring in all but one game this season, and has paced the team in rebounding in three of five contests. The Lady Bucs will now return home for their home-opener Saturday afternoon against SoCon rival UNC Greensboro. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from Brooks Gym in Johnson City, Tenn.
