SoCon Announces 2004 Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 12, 2004) - East Tennessee State University's women's tennis program placed seventh in the preseason SoCon coaches' poll as announced by the SoCon on Wednesday. Furman and College of Charleston each garnered 94 votes from Southern Conference women's tennis coaches in the 2004 preseason poll. Coaches projected the finish of each team, except for their own, from top to bottom. Furman received six first-place votes while College of Charleston gathered five. The Lady Paladins finished a perfect 9-0 in Southern Conference play last season. Charleston finished second in the regular season in 2003, but the Cougars excelled in the Southern Conference tournament finals beating Davidson, 4-1. The Southern Conference coaches also tabbed Davidson, Wofford, Chattanooga and Georgia Southern to finish in the top half of the conference. Conference play begins for the Bucs when they host Elon on March 7 at 1:00 p.m. The SoCon Women's Tennis Championships are set to take place from April 22-25 in Charleston, SC. 2004 Preseason Women's Tennis Poll 1.
