ETSU athletics, Johnson City Transit to provide shuttle service for Saturday's men's basketball game

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 12, 2004) - In cooperation with the Johnson City Transit, the East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is proud to provide shuttle service for fans attending Saturday's men's basketball game against Elon. "We want to make coming to an ETSU men's basketball game as enjoyable as possible," said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins. "With the type of crowds and the demand for tickets that we are experiencing right now, we are working to make the game day experience as pleasant as we can. This is an indication of those efforts." Fans can pick up the shuttle at any "BucShot" transit stop on campus, or simply wave down the shuttle once they arrive on campus. One shuttle will service the west side of Memorial Center, while the other services the east side of the Dome. The shuttles will run from 2:45 until 4:15. Those planning to attend the game are encouraged to arrive early due to longer lines at the ticket windows and an increased wait at the entrances around Memorial Center. "We had several fans arrive at the ticket booths 5 to 10 minutes prior to the game last week against Appalachian State," said ETSU Business Manager Adam Walton. "Back before our team's great winning streak and the growing popularity of the team, it was no problem to just show up at game time, purchase a ticket and get to your seat. Fans need to realize that now it's a little different with crowds of 6,000 and more. Just like events at larger universities, it takes longer to get to your seats." The Buccaneers are currently 20-4 overall, 12-0 in Southern Conference play, heading into Saturday's 4 p.m. showdown with Elon. ETSU has already captured the SoCon North Division championship and will be looking to win its second straight SoCon Tournament next month in Charleston, S.C.
