Buccaneer Baseball travels to Tennessee Wednesday night

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Apr. 6, 2004) -- The ETSU baseball team heads to Knoxville to take on No. 13 Tennessee from Lindsay Nelson Stadium Wednesday night at 7 p.m. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, as the Vols (25-5, 6-3 SEC) defeated the Bucs (14-18, 5-10 SoCon), 20-2, on Mar. 23 from Cardinal Park in Johnson City. Buccaneer sophomore righty Jeremy Hall (Gray, Tenn.) is scheduled to start Wednesday night while Johnson City native Brandon Crowe will pitch for Tennessee. Hall is 4-5 with a 4.33 ERA while Crowe is 0-1 with a 1.59 ERA. The Bucs are led at the plate by junior catcher Caleb Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.) who is in the midst of a breakout season. Moore leads the team with a .420 batting average and 29 runs scored and is tied for the team lead with five homers while driving in 21 runs. Sophomore Blake Church (Roswell, Ga.) is second on the team with a .327 average while freshman Stephen Douglas (Kennesaw, Ga.) is hitting .326 and senior all-conference shortstop Andy Howdeshell (Maryville, Tenn.) is batting .325. Tennessee also has an explosive offense, as all nine of the Vols' regulars are batting .300 or higher. Designated hitter Alex Suarez leads the team with a .377 batting average while first baseman Chris Kemp is batting .370. Center fielder Josh Alley paces the Vols with five home runs while Kemp leads the team with 33 RBIs.
