GREENVILLE, N.C. (October 13, 2003) - A day after shooting the best single-round team score in program history, the East Tennessee State University Lady Bucs were unable to build on that momentum and finished eighth during final round play of the Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate at the Bradford Creek Golf Club. The Lady Bucs, who shot a record 299 during second-round play on Monday, posted a 318 in the final round Tuesday, finishing 38 strokes back of team champion Mississippi State. Senior Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville) posted a career-best, three-round score of 224 (75-72-77) to finish tied for 11th, nine strokes back of individual champion Brandy Anderson of Western Carolina. Along with Fletcher, sophomore Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) also posted a career-best, three-round score thanks to rounds of 73-76-79=228 and finished tied for 22nd. The rest of the Lady Buc scores included junior Robin Downes (Johnson City) at 237, sophomore Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) at 243, and freshman Vanessa Breeding (Morristown) at 262.
