Fletcher again powers Lady Bucs in Great Smokies Women's Collegiate
Monday, October 20, 2003WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (October 20, 2003) - Senior Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville) fired an opening-round, 3-over-par 75 Monday to finish tied for 9th in the Great Smokies Women's Collegiate at the Waynesville Country Club.
Meanwhile, Fletcher's teammate Robin Downes (Johnson City) - who was competing only as an individual - also fired a 3-over 75 and finished tied with Fletcher on the leaderboard.
As a team, Fletcher and the Lady Bucs are within striking distance of the lead, 14-strokes back of team leading Murray State, which finished with a team score of 6-over 294. Meanwhile, in the individual competition, Western Carolina's Brandy Anderson leads the way at 1-under, with both Fletcher and Downes just four strokes back.
The rest of ETSU's team finished the day with sophomore Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) tied for 22nd at 5-over, junior Danielle O'Reilly (Vancouver, British Columbia) and sophomore Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario) tied in 33rd at 6-over, and sophomore Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) tied for 69th at 9-over.
Final round play in the Great Smokies Women's Collegiate will wrap up Tuesday.
