Lady Bucs set another program record at Great Smokies Women's Collegiate
Tuesday, October 21, 2003 WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (October 21, 2003) - With a two-round team score of 610 - a new women's golf record at East Tennessee State University - the Lady Bucs finished strong on the final day of the Great Smokies Women's Collegiate at the Waynesville Country Club and picked up a fourth-place finish.The Buccaneers were led by sophomore Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.), sophomore Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario) and senior Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville), all of whom finished tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard with scores of 8-over 152. The efforts of both Barton and Brooks were career bests, as all three Lady Bucs finished just seven-strokes behind individual champion Brandy Anderson of Western Carolina. In the team competition, homestanding Western Carolina brought home the trophy by nine strokes over Murray State. As for the rest of the ETSU squad, sophomore Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) finished tied for for 42nd at 157, while junior Danielle O'Reilly (Vancouver, British Columbia) ended the event tied for 50th at 158.
