Lady Bucs take lead at The Shamrock Intercollegiate
Sunday, March 14, 2004 TEGA CAY, S.C. (March 13, 2004) - Just one week removed from a victory in the Lady Terrier Intercollegiate, the East Tennessee State women's golf team is back in position to take another championship in the The Shamrock Intercollegiate at the Tega Cay Golf Club.Led by sophomore Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.), who is currently third on the individual leaderboard at 14-over 158 (81-77), the Lady Bucs improved on their first round by 26 strokes and posted a total score of 656 following Saturday's second round. ETSU (341-315=656) is currently four strokes ahead of Coastal Carolina with final round play set for Sunday. While Barton remained near the top of the leaderboard and trails first-place Ashley Harris of Mercer by just three strokes, teammate Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada) made the biggest jump among the Lady Bucs in the second round and is currently tied for 9th after finishing the first round in 38th. Brooks rebounded to post a score of 74 on Saturday after a disheartening 89 on Friday, and is currently at 19-over for the event. As for the rest of the Bucs, sophomore Laura Diaz (Aquadilla, P.R.) finished tied for 14th at 21-over-par, while junior Robin Downes (Johnson City, Tenn.) is tied for 31st at 28-over and senior Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville, Tenn.) is tied for 43rd. The Shamrock will wrap up with final round play on Sunday
