Buccaneer Soccer releases 2003 schedule

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 8, 2003) - East Tennessee State University head women's soccer coach Heather Henson has released the Buccaneers 2003 soccer schedule. The Buccaneers will have eight home games in 2003, with six of those being conference matches. The non-conference schedule includes dates with David Lipscomb and Austin Peay at the Lady Gov Classic, Belmont, Radford, UNC Asheville, and Winthrop. In 2003 ETSU will host the Southern Conference's newest member, Elon University, the Phoenix will travel to Johnson City on October 24 for the 7:00 contest. "We are playing a few teams that we have not played before," Henson said. "I think that this schedule will be a good challenge for us and one that we will be ready for." The 2003 campaign will also mark the first time the Southern Conference has had teams from each of its member institutions (12) competing for the SoCon Championship. ETSU will open up the season on Aug. 29 as they travel to Clarksville, Tenn. for the Lady Gov Classic where they will take on David Lipscomb at 4:30 CST. The Buccaneers first home game will be Sep. 5 as they host Belmont at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex.
