SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 11, 2003) - East Tennessee State University sophomore Brad Yewer was named Southern Conference Athlete of the Week after his performances at the Rod McCravy Memorial track meet hosted by the University of Kentucky. The Newbury, England native had a sixth place finish in the mile, finishing the race in 4:08.92. His mile time leads the conference-ranking list by almost two seconds. Yewer followed that performance by placing seventh in the 3000-meters, with a time of 8:27.49, which is a little over one second slower than the conference leading time. Both times in the mile and 3000-meters were lifetime bests for the sophomore. "Hard work always results in good performances," Buccaneer head coach Dave Walker said. "Brad has been working exceptionally hard and stayed injury free."
