ETSU Volleyball Begins Preparations for 2002 Season

Friday, August 16, 2002

Johnson City, Tenn. (August 16, 2002)- Head coach Deane Webb and the 2002 East Tennessee State volleyball team has begun practice for the upcoming season.

Webb, who enters his second season at ETSU, led the Buccaneers to a second place finish in the Southern Conference last year after compiling a 20-6 record (15-5 SoCon).

Webb has lost a few seniors from last year's roster, including SoCon Player of the Year, Carey Cavanaugh, but the Bucs are extremely optimistic about their chances for a conference title given the leadership and experience of the returning players with the addition of a highly talented freshman class.

The Bucs' first matches of the 2002 season are right around the corner, when the team travels to Charlotte, N.C. for the Spring Hill Suites Invitational on Aug. 30-31.
