JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 26, 2003) - East Tennessee State head coach Lindsey Devine announced Thursday that Jennifer Sartor has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Buccaneers. Sartor has been twice named the Richmond High School Athlete of the Year, and is a four-time Most Valuable Player of the volleyball team. Recently, she led her club team, the Stouffville Stingrays, to a third place finish at the Canadian nationals. "Jennifer possess a ton of leadership and will play a big role at ETSU," said Devine. "Having already played at such a high level, I believe she understands the demands and pressures associated with playing (NCAA) Division I volleyball." A 6-foot-0 setter and right side hitter, Sartor's club team won the 2001 and 2002 Ontario Regional Championships, and she has played with teams that have taken as high as 15th place at junior nationals. Sartor has also been honored with the Ontario Volleyball Association Award of Excellence. ETSU will open its 2003 schedule versus Campbell at the Virginia Tech Hokie Classic, which will take place Aug. 29-30.
