Turner Selected To Coastal Plain All-Star Team

Johnson City, Tenn. (July 8, 2002) - Rising junior Tim Turner (Marietta, Ga.), a member of East Tennessee State's baseball team, has been chosen to play in the All-Star game of the Coastal Plain League. Turner was named as one of the pitchers on the North team's roster for the contest, which will take place on July 10 in Fayetteville, N.C. The Coastal Plain league is a summer college baseball league of 12 teams that plays from late May until August. Turner, who is playing for the Wilson Tobs, leads the league in strikeouts with 60 in just 36.1 innings on the mound. He has compiled a 2-1 record in six starts so far with a 1.49 ERA. Last season for ETSU Turner went 3-7 on the mound with a 6.59 ERA. He was also the Bucs' starting center fielder, hitting .248 and finishing second on the team with 18 stolen bases
