JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 28, 2003) - Julia McChain (Dale City, Va.) has been named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 28. McChain led the Bucs to a 2-0 record over the weekend in which East Tennessee State swept conference opponent Furman. The freshman pitched a complete game on April 26, in ETSU's 6-3 victory over the Paladins and on April 27, McChain earned a 4-0 victory in a combined shutout with teammate Jennifer Fraser (Chattanooga, Tenn.) McChain posted a 1.80 ERA in two games allowing three earned runs in 11.2 innings pitched. McChain struck out five while walking three. East Tennessee State took all three games of the series from Furman, upping their season record to 7-10 in conference and 21-24 overall.
