Women's Tennis Signs Sylwia Ziolkowska to National Letter of Intent

Wednesday, April 17, 2002

Johnson City, Tenn. (Apr. 17, 2002) East Tennessee State women's tennis head coach Steve Brooks Wednesday announced the signing of Sylwia Ziolkowska (Warsaw, Poland) to a national letter of intent to play for the Bucs beginning in the 2002-03 season. Sylwia is a graduate of the world-famous Nick Bolleteri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla. She was a member of the best group in the academy - Group I. Ziolkowska has extensive international playing experience and has consistently held a world junior ranking. At 6'0 she will add some size to the Buccaneer team. "I am pleased to be able to sign a quality player like Sylwia to an NLI to play tennis for me at ETSU," said Brooks Wednesday afternoon. " Sylwia could have signed with almost any team in the country and she has chosen ETSU. I plan to sign several other quality players like Sylwia in hopes of making the ETSU women's tennis team a very solid nationally-ranked team. I hope that the upper East Tennessee tennis supporters will support these players to help them move onto the national scene." The Buccaneers return to action on Thursday at 1 p.m. as they face Appalachian State in the first round of the Southern Conference Women's Tennis Championships from Charleston, S.C.
