Texas Tech Defeats Men's Tennis in HEB Tournament

Corpus Christi, Texas (March 8, 2002) -East Tennessee State's men's tennis team lost in the first round of the H. E. B Collegiate Team Tournament during a Friday morning match against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 4-0. In singles action, Marcos Pavlovich (Otamendi, Argentina), Diego Iglesias (Mar del Plata, Argentina), and Alejandro Salazar (Arequipa, Peru) all had matches that could not be finished. Pablo Sahagun (Cuernavaca, Mexico) lost the No. 4 match to Texas Tech'sDevin Wakeford by the score of 6-4, 6-3. TTU's Michael Innerebner took out Roberto Fernandez (Cuernavaca, Mexico) 6-2 and 6-3. In the No. 6 spot, Moises Serrano (Bucaramanga, Colombia) went down to Alfonso Perez, 6-1 and 6-1. During the doubles competition, Pavlovich and Fernandez was defeated by Crabtree and Gudzelak, 8-3. In a tough No. 2 match, Walker and Wakeford won over ETSU's Salazar and Sahagun. The third match ended in a "did not finish" for Iglesias and Serrano.
