#53 Men's Tennis Loses Close One to Charleston Southern

Johnson City, Tenn. (March 23, 2002) - The 53rd-ranked East Tennessee State's men's tennis team dropped to 6-5 on Saturday after losing to Charleston Southern in a close one, 4-3, at the ETSU Tennis Center. ETSU split the singles matches with Charleston Southern and CSU won the doubles point. In doubles competition, Charleston Southern won both matches 8-5. Marcos Pavlovich (Otamendi, Argentina) and Roberto Fernandez (Cuernavaca, Mexico) lost to CSU's Tomas Miho and Rohan Wadehra. Soufiane Rechag and Zalan Kiss defeated the ETSU duo of Diego Iglesias (Mar del Plata, Argentina) and Moises Serrano (Bucaramanga, Colombia). East Tennessee and Charleston Southern split the singles match. CSU won the No. 1-3 matches and ETSU took the bottom three spots. Pavlovich was defeated by Miho in three tough sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Wadehra took the No. 2 match from Pablo Sahagun (Cuernavaca, Mexico), 6-0, 6-0. Fernandez fought but was defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Rodrigo Villarroel. Iglesias won over Kiss by the scores of 6-3, 6-0. Alejandro Salazar (Arequipa, Peru) won the No. 5 match in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 7-6) over Rechag. Serrano defeated Ariel Fufuro in the No. 6 spot, 7-6, 6-0. The Bucs will host Southern Conference opponent UNC Greensboro on Tuesday, March 26th at 2:30 p.m. at the ETSU Tennis Center. Charleston Southern 4, ETSU 3 Singles: 1. Tomas Miho (CSU) def.
