East Tennessee State Adds Women's Golf Recruit

Johnson City, Tenn. (May 30, 2002) - East Tennessee State's women's golf team has signed a recruit to a national letter of intent to attend ETSU and play golf for the Bucs next season head coach Katie Weiss announced today. Laura Diaz of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, adds to an already impressive recruiting class for the Bucs. Diaz, a senior at the Caribbean Christian School, has played golf for six years for coach Miguel Suarez and has participated in tournaments with the Puerto Rico Golf Association, the Women's Puerto Rico Golf Association, the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Association and the American Junior Golf Association. She has been a member of the Puerto Rico Junior National Team since 1997 and won two major championships last year, the Puerto Rico Junior Island Championship and the Westfield PGA Junior Championship. "I am very happy that Laura has decided to come to East Tennessee State," said Weiss. " She is an outstanding young golfer that will add a great deal to our team next year."
