Johnson City, Tenn -- East Tennessee State University, in accordance with the Southern Conference, has postponed all athletic competition until Monday, Sept. 17, 2001. The Buccaneer soccer games Friday against Birmingham Southern and Sunday against Middle Tennessee State, football game Saturday against Virginia Military Institute, volleyball matches against Georgia Southern and Lambuth and the cross country teams trip to Winthrop have been postponed and rescheduling will be discussed at a later date. The women's golf team was scheduled to compete this weekend at a tournament at the University of Minnesota. Due to the shutdown of air transportation in the United States, the Bucs will not participate this weekend. The thoughts and prayers of the East Tennessee State Athletic Department are with those and the families of those that have been injured or have been lost in the tragedies in New York, Washington, D.C., and western Pennsylvania.
