Lady Bucs Defeat Smoky Mountain Swarm in Exhibition Opener

Johnson City, Tenn. -- Senior guard Chris Forman scored a game-high 17 points and dished out a game-high five assists to lead the ETSU Lady Bucs to a 71-47 exhibition victory over the Smoky Mountain Swarm Sunday afternoon from Brooks Gym.
Forman was 6-15 from the field including 3-5 from three-point range. Junior Erin Thurman (11 points) and freshman guard Racquel Ellis (10 points, three steals) also scored in double digits for the Lady Bucs. In addition to Ellis' performance, the Buccaneer freshmen played well, with forward Lauren Trantham pulling down nine rebounds, center Jessica Lonon scoring six points and forward Joi Anderson scoring eight points and grabbing a team-high 10 boards. Sophomore forward Misty Copas paced the Lady Bucs with four steals.
The Lady Buc defense shut down the Swarm, holding them to 17-61 shooting (.279), including just 6-28 in the second half (.214). The Swarm was also pressured into making 30 turnovers compared to the Lady Bucs 17.
ETSU was hot all afternoon from three-point range, knocking down 7-18 (.389) on the day from long distance. Forman and Thurman each knocked down three treys on the afternoon.
The Swarm was led by Quicha Floyd, who scored 17 points and tied for the game-high in rebounds with her teammate Terra Watt with 14.
The Lady Bucs return to the hardwood as travel to Tennessee Tech on Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. for their first regular-season game of the 2000-01 season.
