Radford Downs Lady Bucs, 89-76

Thursday, November 30, 2000

Junior guard Erin Thurman sparked a second half Lady Buc rally, but it was not enough to overcome the Radford Highlanders, who defeated ETSU 89-76 Wednesday evening from the Dedmon Center in Radford, Va.

Thurman scored 13 of her team-high 17 points in the second half including three treys. Sophomore forward Misty Copas (13) and freshman guard Racquel Ellis (13) also scored in double-digits for the Lady Bucs (0-5).

Radford was led by Catrice Horton, who hit for 23 points and was 8-8 from the line late in the game.

Radford led 44-33 at the half, but ETSU stormed out of the locker room and began the second half on an 5-0 run. ETSU would eventually cut the lead to three, at 57-54 with 9:05 to play, but that was as close as the Lady Bucs would get, as the Highlanders scored six consecutive points to hold on for the win.

The Lady Bucs return to the court on Dec. 6 when they travel to Davidson for their first Southern Conference game. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
