Gustavo Gomez Earns Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State's Gustavo Gomez has been named Men's Tennis Player of the Week by the Southern Conference.

Gomez, a senior from Belcarce, Argentina, went 3-0 at No. 1 singles for the Bucs with a win over Raul Munoz of Wake Forest, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. Gomez also won two consecutive conference matches. He defeated UNC Greensboro's Tony Mule 6-2,6-1 and Appalachian State's Craig Rice 6-2,6-4.

Gomez has also been stellar in doubles play while teaming with teammate Roberto Fernandez. The pair has combined for three wins at the No. 1 doubles spot. Gomez is currently on a twelve-match winning streak and stands at 25-9 on the season.
