Men's Golfers in a Tie For Fifth After the First Round of the Carpet Capital Classic

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.-- Senior Chris Wisler fired a 2-under par 70 to finish in a tie for eighth and lead the 20th ranked East Tennessee State golfers to a tie for fifth after the first round of the Carpet Capital Classic from The Farm Golf Course in Dalton, Ga.
The Buccaneers shot a combined 292 (+4) on the day and are tied with Florida and Tennessee, 14 strokes behind the #1 ranked and host Georgia Bulldogs.
Wisler is in a six-way tie for eighth along with #1 ranked Bryce Molder from Georgia Tech, Parker McLachlin from UCLA, Paul Casey from Arizona State, Travis Johnson from UCLA and Steve Conway from UCLA. Nick Cassini from Georgia leads the individual standings after shooting a 7-under par 65 after the first 18 holes.
Sophomore Thomas Lee finished in a ten-way tie for 19th after shooting an even-par 72. Sophomore Adam Riddering shot a 1-over par 73 to finish one shot behind Lee in a five-way tie for 29th. Junior Pat Beste shot a 5-over par 77 to finish in a five-way tie for 59th. Freshman Anders Hofvander rounded out the Bucs day after shooting a 7-over par 79 and ending the first round in a three-way tie for 67th.
The second round of the Carpet Capital Classic will be held Saturday, October 7 at The Farm Golf Course from Dalton, Ga.
