Turner Earns Southern Conference Freshman of the Week Honors

Johnson City, Tenn. (Sept. 5) - East Tennessee State freshman Tim Turner (Marietta, Ga.) earned Southern Conference Freshman-of-the-Week honors for his efforts in a 37-20 season-opening win at Liberty on September 2.

The 6-1 wide receiver made three catches, all touchdowns, for 145 yards (48.3 yards per catch). His first touchdown was a 58-yard bomb from senior quarterback Todd Wells that gave the Bucs a 7-0 lead just 52 seconds into the game.

The freshman continued his strong play with a 28-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter. He completed his collegiate debut with a 49-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter.

The Bucs (1-0) travel to Fort Collins, Colo. on Saturday, September 9 to face Colorado State. The game will begin at 5 p.m. (Eastern) and will be televised by CSS on a tape-delay basis.
