Wednesday, November 01, 2000

Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State senior quarterback Todd Wells (Forest Park, Ga.) earned Don Hansens National Weekly Football Gazette Player-of-the-Week honors on October 24 for his performance in the Bucs 23-21 win against Furman on October 21.

The Southern Conference Player of the Week, Wells was 23-of-44 for 336 yards with two touchdowns against the #6 Paladins. Wells also led the team with 65 rushing yards on eight carries. His eight-yard scamper brought the Bucs within one point late in the fourth quarter.

Wells 401 total yards was the second most in program history, behind his 447-yard performance against Appalachian State in 1997. It was the third time in his career that Wells eclipsed 300 yards in a game.

ETSU (4-4, 3-3 Southern Conference) hosts Wofford for Homecoming at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 4 in Memorial Center.
