Former Football Star Jim Beverly Will Play in NFL Europe

Johnson City, Tenn. -- Former East Tennessee State center Jim Beverly was selected in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL Europe Draft by the Frankfurt Galaxy.

The Kingsport, Tenn. native, is listed as a center on the Galaxy roster. The 6-3, 306 pound offensive lineman started three years in the middle for the Buccaneers, earning All-Southern Conference First Team honors in 1999.

Joining Beverly on the Galaxy squad is former Buccaneer running back Brian Edwards. The 6-1, 223 pound tailback is property of the Chicago Bears. Edwards ranks second all-time in rushing yards (2,930) at ETSU.

Frankfurt opens the 2001 season on April 21 at the Scotland Claymores.
