Men's Basketball Hands Out Awards

Johnson City, Tenn. - The men's basketball team handed out its team awards on April 8 at the Basketball Banquet at the Holiday Inn. Former ETSU Head Coach Alan LeForce was the keynote speaker.

Senior Leo Murray was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Murray, a forward from Tampla, Fla., capped off his career with the Bucs as the leading scorer of the 1999-2000 team at 11.0 points. He also led ETSU with 8.1 rebounds per game. In addition, Murray was named the winner of the Players Choice Award as voted upon by his teammates.

Sophomore Cliff Decoster was named the team's Most Improved Player. Decoster, a point guard from Miramar, Fla., averaged 6.8 points and 2.5 assists.

Senior Erskin Anavitarte earned the team's Scholastic Achievement Award. Anavitarte, a guard from Temple, Texas will graduate this spring with a degree in Public Relations.

ETSU finished the 1999-2000 season 14-15. The Bucs advanced to the second round of the Southern Conference Tournament before being defeated by South Division Champion College of Charleston. ETSU will return five of its six top scorers for the 2000-2001 campaign.
