Wisler and Beste Earn All-Southern Conference Golf Honors
Tuesday, April 25, 2000 JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State golfers Chris Wisler and Patrick Beste both earned All-Southern Conference honors in leading the Bucs to their third consecutive Southern Conference title. Wisler also earned 2000 Southern Conference Player-of-the-Year honors. Wisler, a native of Dover, Del., is currently ranked #22 nationally. After 32 rounds, he carries a 71.97 scoring average. Wisler has finished in the top-5 in four of his last five tournaments, including his second collegiate medal, at The Bell South Intercollegiate (April 14-15). The junior has earned six top-10 finishes this year. The Bucs' third consecutive Player-of-the-Year, Wisler finished tied for fourth at the Southern Conference Championships last weekend. Wisler, the 1999 Southern Conference medalist and NCAA All-American, finished this year with a three-round 220 (72-76-72). Beste, a native of Sauk Centre, Minn., won this year's Southern Conference Championship with a three-round 216 (70-73-73). It marked his third top-10 finish of the season and his second top-5 finish in his last three events. The junior tied for fifth at the Furman Intercollegiates (April 8-9). This week's Southern Conference Golfer of the Week, Beste carries a 74.13 scoring average after 32 rounds. He is ETSU's 11th SoCon Individual Champion. ETSU will return to action at the NCAA East Regional in Scranton, Penn. from May 18-20. |
