Strong performances at the Niswonger Invitational propel the freshmen
MACON, Ga. Roberts earned the honor by taking the top spot in the men’s mile run blue section final with a time of 4:19.44 at the 2014 Niswonger Invitational on Jan. 18; the third-best time in the event in the A-Sun this season. Additionally, in the men’s distance medley relay final at the Invite, the Greeneville native was part of the ETSU squad that took first in the event with a league-best time of 10:08.85.
In the field at the Niswonger Invitational, Squibbs received the accolade by setting a new ETSU indoor record with a mark of 5.00 meters in the men’s pole vault to gain second place. This mark is tops in the event this season in the conference and is also presently the 59th best in the nation.
These honors are the first career performer of the week awards for the freshmen.
