LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BUCS
- The Bucs had their four-game winning streak snapped as Tennessee defeated the Blue and Gold, 4-3, in front of 1,752 fans Tuesday night at Thomas Stadium.
- Junior Dylan Tritsch (Boca Raton, Fla.) and senior Mason Hershey (Altoona, Pa.) both hit solo home runs early in the game, but Tennessee’s A.J. Simcox scored the eventual winning run on a wild pitch in the fifth and the Vols hung on for the win. The Bucs had their chances as senior Alex Reynolds (Johnson City, Tenn.) ripped a one-out triple in the fifth and was left stranded, while ETSU had the tying run at second with only one out in the sixth but only pushed across one run in the frame. The Blue and Gold also had the tying run at the plate in the seventh and eighth innings.
- Tuesday’s one-run setback marked ETSU’s fifth one-run loss of the season, while eight of the Bucs’ 12 losses on the year have been decided by two runs or less.
- Lipscomb – who has won two of its last three – is coming off a 5-3 win over Belmont Tuesday night and enter the weekend, 12-22, 3-6 in A-Sun play.
- Red-shirt sophomore right-hander Hunter Brothers and senior righty Tyler Burstrom have combined for six of Lipscomb’s 12 wins on the season. Brothers has made nine appearances (five starts) for the Bisons and is 3-3 with a 6.45 ERA (27 ER/37.2 IP), while Burstrom is 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA (11 ER/32.2 IP) in 13 appearances out of the bullpen. Burstrom also has one of Lipscomb’s five saves on the campaign.
- In nine conference games, junior outfielder Drew Adams is hitting a team-leading .419 (13-31) with four doubles, two triples, five runs scored and eight RBI. Adams’ .419 batting average in league games ranks sixth overall. Meanwhile, Burstrom and sophomore right-hander Jaesung Hwang have a combined 1.42 ERA (3 ER/19.0 IP) in A-Sun play. Hwang has allowed one earned run and struck out five in 9.2 innings (six appearances), and Burstrom has posted a 1.93 ERA (2 ER/9.1 IP) with a save in three appearances.
