OXFORD, Miss. (April 6, 2013) – Senior Chloe Garner (Somerset West, South Africa) remained in contention on the individual leaderboard and the ETSU women’s golf team continued to stay in the hunt as a team following second round action Saturday in the Rebel Intercollegiate at the Ole Miss Golf Course.
Garner and sophomore teammate Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) fired team-best rounds of 2-over-par 73 and both are currently in the Top 10 individually. Garner is fourth and just four strokes back of Baylor’s Hayley Davis, the tournament leader, while Wahl is tied for seventh.
As a team, the Bucs are sitting in the fifth spot out of 18 teams, and are 13 strokes back of first place Coastal Carolina.
“We are loving the great weather here and enjoying the golf course,” said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. “Today was another fun day to be out competing. I am proud of the ladies performance again as they had another solid round. We look forward to the opportunity to play this golf course one more time.”
Along with Garner and Wahl, other ETSU results included a tie for 32nd by freshman Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) and a tie for 49th by junior Lourdes Lopez (Cadiz, Spain).
