JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2012) – Below are a list of all the ETSU Athletic events taking place for the week of Oct. 22-28.
Men’s Cross Country
This week: The ETSU men’s cross country team travels to Ft. Myers, Fla. for the 2012 Atlantic Sun Championship, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27. The Bucs will run an 8K starting at 9:30 a.m. from the Buckingham Cross Country Course.

Women’s Cross Country
This week: Like the men, the ETSU women’s cross country team will also make the trip to Ft. Myers for the A-Sun Championship. The women’s 5K run begins at 8:45 a.m. at the Buckingham Cross Country Course.

Last week: The ETSU men’s golf team was led by a pair of freshmen last weekend at the prestigious U.S. Collegiate Championship from The Golf Club of Georgia – Lakeside Course. Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) paced the Bucs by finishing the 54 holes of play at 3-over-par 219 to finish in a tie for 13th, while Gudmundur Kristjansson (Reykjavik, Iceland) finished the last two rounds at 4-under to tie for 20th at 4-over 220. Overall, the Bucs shot 892 as team to finish 11th. In the end, ETSU placed ahead of No. 24/22 Wake Forest, No. 18/16 Kent State, No. 17 Texas A&M, and Iowa.
This week: The ETSU women’s golf team wraps up its fall season when the Bucs make the trek to Kiawah Island, S.C. for the Palmetto Intercollegiate, beginning Sunday, Oct. 28. The Bucs will play 36 holes on Sunday, while wrapping up play at the Oak Point Course with 18 holes Monday. Live scoring can be accessed by visiting GolfStat.com.

Men’s Soccer (8-5-2, 4-1-0 A-Sun)
This week: The Bucs hit the road for two games in the state of Florida. ETSU faces reining A-Sun regular season and tournament champion FGCU on Friday night at 7 p.m., while taking on Stetson Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Live stats for the FGCU match will be available on FGCUAthletics.com, and live video and stats will be offered for the Stetson match at GoHatters.com.
Last week: Seniors Franck Doumbe (Silver Spring, Md.) and Alesi Osorio (Austin, Texas) each scored as part of a three-goal second half, leading the ETSU men’s soccer team past Northern Kentucky, 3-0, on Friday night at Summers-Taylor Stadium. In addition to the pair of seniors scoring on “Senior Night,” junior David Geno (Kingsport, Tenn.) put the Blue and Gold on the scoreboard first in the 52nd minute when Osorio found the Buccaneer striker for his 11th goal of the season. Meanwhile, junior keeper Ryan Coulter (Dublin, Ireland) registered his fifth shutout of the year as he made three saves on the night.
Women’s Soccer (12-5-0, 6-3-0 A-Sun)
This week: The ETSU women’s soccer team will host Jacksonville in the quarterfinals of the A-Sun Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Bucs earned the No. 4 seed, while the Dolphins secured the fifth seed. Saturday’s game time is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be video streamed live on ASun.TV, while live stats will be provided via ETSUBucs.com.
Last week: The Bucs closed out the regular season with a split in Jacksonville, Fla., as the Blue and Gold rolled past North Florida, 5-1, on Sunday, but dropped a 2-1 affair at Jacksonville Friday night. Junior Ramey Kerns (Kings Mountain, N.C.) highlighted the weekend, scoring once on Friday and four times on Sunday to register five of ETSU’s six goals on the weekend. Her four goals on Sunday upped her season total to 20, made her the first Lady Buccaneer in program history to record two hat tricks in the same season, and tie Erin Ashton for the most goals in one game. ETSU finished the regular season 12-5-0, 6-3-0 A-Sun, earning the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.

Last week: The ETSU men’s tennis team traveled across the state to Memphis for the 2012 USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships. Seniors Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) and Juan Ramirez (Asuncion, Paraguay), as well as juniors Roger Ordeig (Gurb, Spain) and Jorge Varon (Valencia, Venezuela) all advanced to the doubles quarterfinals, but were eliminated on Sunday. Overall, the tennis Bucs went 5-2 in doubles, but struggled in singles with a record of 2-6.

Last week: The ETSU women’s tennis team went to West Lafayette, Ind. for the 2012 USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, hosted by Purdue. Redshirt freshman Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) and true freshman Anna Gerbasi (Mexico, City Mexico) highlighted the trip, advancing all the way to the doubles semifinals and taking out two seeded teams from Purdue along the way. The run ended on Sunday, when Choo and Gerbasi ran into the No. 1 seed from Tennessee and fell, 8-1.
Volleyball (16-9, 7-4 A-Sun)
This week: The Bucs wrap up their four-game road swing this weekend when ETSU travels to Lipscomb on Friday night and Northern Kentucky Saturday afternoon. Friday’s game at Lipscomb is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (Eastern) and the NKU game is slated for 3 p.m. Live video will be available for free on ASun.TV for both matches, while live stats will be offered by visiting LipscombBisons.com and NKUNorse.com.
Last week: ETSU split its pair of road matches last week as the Blue and Gold swept Kennesaw State on Tuesday night, before falling to USC Upstate in five on Friday. Junior Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) and sophomore Bethany Gesell (High Point, N.C.) helped lift the Bucs to the impressive win at Kennesaw. Devine registering 16 kills and 17 digs, both of which were match highs, while Gesell recorded a career-best 15 kills. Unfortunately, ETSU saw its four-game winning streak snapped on Friday night, despite Devine tallying her conference-leading 16th double-double of the season. The Kingsport, Tenn. native finished with 23 kills and 16 digs, while sophomore Jamie Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) registered her 1,000th career assist after dishing out 55 against the Spartans.
