MACON, Ga. (March 23, 2012) – For the sixth-consecutive year the ETSU athletics program was named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
Approximately 640 of the nation’s leading colleges and universities were named to the 2012 list, which recognizes students, faculty and staff for their commitment to bettering their communities through community service and service learning.
“We are very proud of our student-athletes for their commitment to giving back to our community,” Director of ETSU Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins said. “We think part of our student-athletes’ education is learning to be servant leaders and we’ve identified a number of outstanding organizations and communities where our student-athletes not only give to those organizations with their time, energy and talent, but they get a lot from it too.
“Our student-athletes learn a lot about people in different living situations and learn about what it means to help build a community. A lot of value comes from that and we appreciate the emphasis that our coaches and staff give on providing those opportunities for them.”
Out of the Atlantic Sun Conference, Belmont, Florida Gulf Coast, Lipscomb, North Florida, Stetson and ETSU were given the distinguished honor. ETSU has been a recipient of the honor as part of the A-Sun since the 2006-07 academic year.
