AUGUSTA, Ga. (March 16, 2012) – The ETSU women’s golf team placed three players in the Top 20 individually and wrapped up first round play at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate tied for seventh on the team leaderboard Friday at the Forest Hills Golf Club.
The Buccaneers, who fired a team score of 306 and are just eight strokes back of team-leading Texas-San Antonio, were led by freshman Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) thanks to a 3-over-par 75 that tied her for 12th on the individual leaderboard.
Wahl is five strokes back of Purdue’s Kishi Sinha, who holds a two-stroke lead over teammate Laura Gonzalez. Along with Wahl, the Bucs got a pair of 4-over 76s from sophomore Larissa Steinfeldt (Eschweiler, Germany) and senior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain).
UTSA leads the team competition by one stroke over Augusta State. However, 10 teams are within 10 strokes of the lead heading into the second round.
Other ETSU results included a tie for 45th by junior Chloe Garner (Somerset West, South Africa) and a tie for 52nd by sophomore Sian Evans (Gillingham, England).
