RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (Feb. 21, 2011) - The ETSU men's golf teamed fired a second round 5-over 293 as a team to move up to 10th place at the Puerto Rico Classic on the par-72, 6,902-yard River Course at the Rio Mar Beach Resort.
The Bucs were led by junior Devin Komline (Dorset, Vermont) as he posted a solid 2-under 70 on Monday. Komline recorded three birdies and just one bogey for his round. He is currently tied for 22nd place overall at 1-over.
Freshman Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.), who had a share of the individual lead after round one, shot a 3-over 75 in round two. Lawson still leads the Bucs at even-par overall and is tied for 15th place.
The Bucs have compiled a two day total of 587 (294-293) in the 15-team field. ETSU is in front of nationally ranked teams Purdue, Ohio State, Northwestern, and Michigan after two rounds.
No. 5 Georgia Tech and No. 4 Alabama share the lead after two rounds at 14-under overall. No. 2 Oklahoma is in second at 8-under, while Virginia Tech is the only other team under-par at 3-under. No. 39 Oklahoma rounds out the top-five as they sit at even-par.
Bud Cauley of Alabama is one shot clear of the lead on the individual leaderboard at 7-under overall. Morgan Hoffmann of Oklahoma State and James White of Georgia Tech are tied for second at 6-under-par.
ETSU sophomore Patrick Spraggs (Rochford, England) also had a solid day with a 1-over 73, which included two birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey. Spraggs is tied for 40th overall.
Freshman Lucas Armstrong (Church Hill, Tenn.) fired a 3-over 75 and is tied for 60th place at 7-over, while Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) shot a 5-over 77 and is tied for 71st at 11-over with one round to go.
