JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 22, 2010) -A total of nine ETSU student-athletes earned their degrees in commencement ceremonies this past Saturday at the MSHA Athletic Center on the ETSU main campus.
"This was an exceptional class of graduating student-athletes, on and off the field," said Bob Baker, Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services. "I feel fortunate to have known them and watched them grow from scared freshman to accomplished degree holding scholar-athletes who earned Dean's List and have been members of our 4.0 GPA club on numerous occasions. They will be great additions to whomever is fortunate enough to hire them and will positively represent ETSU in their respective communities for many years."
The ETSU softball team led the way in fall graduates with four players receiving their degrees. The volleyball team had two graduates, while cheerleading, track and field, and women's soccer had one player each earning degrees.
In addition, Darci Gilbert (Softball) and Katy Jett (Softball) graduated Cum Laude (3.50-3.64 GPA), while Terri Miller (Women's Soccer) graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.65-3.84 GPA). Marissa Hardy (Softball) graduated Summa Cum Laude, which is the highest academic honor and recognizes graduates that compile between a 3.85 and a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
