KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 21, 2010) - Fresh off their 15-point win over Campbell, the ETSU women's basketball team is set to make the short trek down the interstate to square off with sixth-ranked Tennessee Wednesday evening inside Thompson-Boling Arena. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.

 

The Lady Bucs ended a five-game losing skid Monday night with their 76-61 victory over the Camels as senior captain Tara Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) scored a game-high 21 points. Junior guard Natalie Pickwell (Kingsport, Tenn.) netted a career-high six three-pointers and finished with 18 points, while freshman Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) added 13. Pickwell, who has recorded 11 threes in her last two games, is averaging 14.8 points over her last five contests.

 

With the win, ETSU enters Wednesday's match-up with a 3-5 mark.

 

Meanwhile, Tennessee improved to 10-2 following its 82-72 win over second-ranked Stanford Sunday night in Knoxville. Freshman guard Meighan Simmons finished with a team-high 23 points and seven rebounds versus the Cardinal, while senior Angie Bjorklund added 16 points, five rebounds and four assists in the 10-point home victory.

 

As a team, the Lady Vols are averaging 78.2 points per game and holding their opponents to 58.2 per contest. Simmons leads the squad in scoring (17.8), while Tennessee is out-rebounding its foes 44.2 to 34.8.

 

Currently, Tennessee is 5-0 at home this season, and the Lady Vols hold the highest all-time home winning percentage as they are 329-20 (.943) inside Thompson-Boling Arena.
