EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Sept. 12, 2010) - The ETSU men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Evansville Sunday afternoon at the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic hosted by the Purple Aces in Evansville, Ind.
The Bucs (2-2-0) outshot the Purple Aces 13-7 in the contest, while the corners were even at 4-all.
Evansville jumped out in front 1-0 in the 16th minute as Robby Lynch headed a Tom Irvin throw-in to Mike Luttrull who then knocked the ball into the back of the net.
The Purples aces increased the lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute as Irvin drove a free kick past Ronnie Hreha (Asheville, N.C.) into the goal from 25-yards out.
Late in the second half, the Buccaneers had some good looks, but the Evansville defense played stout to keep ETSU off of the board.
With the loss the Bucs finish as the runners-up in the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic. Itode Fubara (Ogbema, Nigeria) Aaron Schoenfeld (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Guilherme Reis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) were named to the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team.
