JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 7, 2010) - Senior Guilherme Reis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week after his goal propelled the ETSU men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Clemson on the road, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
"Guilherme has performed very well in our first couple games and is an important member of this team," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "His leadership and quality in the back have made our team tough to break down. He is playing with a lot of confidence right now. The team put a lot into the game last night, and Guilherme had the composure to step up and convert the penalty."
Reis played strong defensively as well for the Bucs (1-1-0) as he anchored a defense that allowed only one goal in 206 minutes of play. The goal against Clemson was the third career goal for Reis at ETSU.
ETSU is back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. as the Bucs face Bradley in the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic hosted by the University of Evansville. For more information on ETSU men's soccer or any other Buccaneer athletic news please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
