JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 25, 2010) - Former ETSU All-American golfer Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) enjoyed an impressive showing last weekend at the Abu Dhabi Championship, finishing tied for sixth against an impressive field.
Pocketing 48,750 euros for his efforts, Davies carded rounds of 66-68-72-67=273 to finish just seven strokes back of Martin Kaymer. Davies' name was on the leaderboard with some of golf's most recognizable names, such as Ian Poulter and Rory Mcilroy, who finished second and third, respectively. Davies finished ahead of such notables as Soren Hansen (8th), Sergio Garcia (13th), Anthony Kim (13th), Camilo Villegas (19th), and Henrik Stenson (21st).
Davies has played in four events so far this season, which is his first on the European Tour full time.
